Frequently asked questions

Do the QR codes expire?

No. The code encodes your content directly — there is no intermediary redirect service that can shut down or start charging. A printed code keeps working as long as the destination (e.g. your URL) exists.

How much data fits in a QR code?

Up to about 4,200 alphanumeric characters in theory, but shorter is better: less data means a less dense pattern that scans faster and prints more reliably at small sizes. For long URLs, consider a short link.

Will the code work if printed small?

As a rule of thumb, keep printed codes at least 2×2 cm for close-range scanning, and larger if scanned from a distance. High contrast (dark code on light background) and a quiet margin around the code matter as much as size.

Is the content I encode private?

Yes. Generation happens locally in your browser — the text or URL you encode is never transmitted or stored. Note that anyone who scans the final code can read its content, so don't encode secrets you wouldn't share with scanners.
